OFF gaul guide + how to raid as gual

  • Hello there, I once played an off gaul.

First you would like to rush the stables and research pathfinder, make atleast 20 of it and start scouting nearby players.
Then upgrade stables to level 5 and research Theutates thunder, from there make atleast 20 of it and start raiding idle/sleeping players I prefer teutons.
Raid over and over again so your Theutates Thunder army grows bigger, its the fastest and cheapest raider in the game so its very easy to utilize. Just don't risk everything on 1 target and just do 3-5 tt per target. If your TT army grows big you can snipe oasis where some players hide their offense armies or expand your area of attack/raid.

    Goodluck

  • Hey again !
Thanks for that info , so think i already messed up.

i start com4 with like 70 TT's , and everything went right , untill a teuton that i used to attack and steal like 3K each cought me with 170 spears ..
so i lost all the TT's and start on phalanx , when i reach 250 phalanx , wall lvl 10 and trapper with 150 traps i start 100 swords and so far im raiding 100 targets that give me little to nothing.
and just now i got attacked by a guy that crush my phalanx and my traps and cata down my warehouse.

so im standing on no def , 100 swords and a guy on my tail.

what is the best way to be a raider and survive accourding to what i just said :D

(sry about my english , i hope its understandable)

  • It will be hard to come back as a raider again if you got hit pretty bad.

Only way out of it is to start spamming those phalanx and upgrading defensive stuffs.
This game you can't go full raider with risking your own village specially if players have catapults already.
When everything is stable again you can start making those sword/tt army and slowly raid other players until you gain a big amount.

  • @Archer
Gave good advice, generally speaking if you goal is to raid not to attack then never send an attack you can't afford to lose.
The main point of raiding playstyle (especially early game) is to make a net profit on the attacks so being too predictable or using all of your horses in one attack is extremely risky. Never assume the enemy has no troops even if you find none in few attacks, especially if hes growing in pop still.

The best way to get established as a good raiding account is to come to the game with few friends with you and in more general terms manage your diplomatic position well. Getting yourself into a strong kingdom (especially in a premade team) can greatly increase your villages defenses and prevent or help to deal with counterattacks allowing you to focus more heavily on your offense units.

Also remember to raid inactives, make a farm list and send few horses to each destination. Early game scout all your farms but mid and late game you can usually just send 2 horses and check if they come back alive. Your time should be spent on finding juicy targets to farm and hit while some of your units grind away at the inactive generating low but steady extra income.

As for coming back after you lost everything here is a post I made on the subject
    Being Farmed

  • Hey curtain :D
    nice to see you answerd.

So what is the best thing to do right now after everything that happend to me ?
i got 150 swords , thats everything from troops wise.

  • Losing 70 TTs early game is certainly not the end of your hopes of being an offensive Gaul.

I'm on Com5 atm, I was playing as a defensive/sim Gaul but decided to try something new at around week 5. This is how I did it:
    1. Don't worry about rushing TTs.
    2. Settle a decent cropper asap.
    3. Decide which villa you want to raid out of, and get TTs.
    4. Raid only inactives you have scouted and that are undefended. (get the gold farm list feature at some point)
    5. Build TTs 24/7.
    6. Build your TS to lvl 20.
    7. Raid the whole map.

It is really easy to be a top robber as Gaul. I also strongly advise you find a sitter that can send out farm lists while you sleep.
