Add a delay for Hero xp.

  • I think this is a bit of a moot point tbh, even if you couldn't do it with scouts you could do it with other troops. Granted, you could see the attacks coming and therefore they would be easier to dodge, but with a bit of data analysis and careful thought it would be still be possible to estimate enemy send times to within a few seconds. Therefore using precisely timed single unit "scoutings" as a method to determine hero position would remain perfectly usable as a defence tactic. Likewise, it is and always has been avoidable, as emphasised in earlier comments.

    with troops you can react a properly as you see attacks incoming make a different time send with out hero. With scouts you only see that after you send your attack. So you have to hope that they failed to catch you or cancel. If you cancel you show that other attacks are fakes. So it's lose lose situation.


    Like one comment said: it's no risk and really high reward method. So basically new kingdoms can't win if they are same size vs a kingdom of old players. "One plays with close cards other plays with open".

  • I understand the mechanics involved, i think you've missed the point about proper analysis though - given a reliable eta it is possible (and with online tools, i would go so far as to say "easy") to calculate send times to likely targets when you have the relevant data on an attacker. From this you can deduce how to time attacks to hit the attacker a few seconds before they are due to send their real, during which time their hero will be at home as the player will be setting up the wave/s at the rally point. The attacker will be doing this whether they see the attack coming or not, they must in order to make the send time, you see?


    I'm not sure anyone would expect new, inexperienced kingdoms to win against old hands. That said, it is not impossible should the new kingdom do their research, employ tried and tested methodology, and exceed the "old players" levels of teamwork and original thought. I believe BM proved exactly that when they were first seen on a kingoms server...


    You could say exactly what you have said above with regards to many "advanced" tactics, should they be made illegal/disabled too? Cutting waves for example - you risk a few cheap troops and in exchange you get to wipe out large numbers of very expensive siege troops. This gives the advantage to experienced players - they are far more likely to make successful cuts what with being used to compensating for variables such as server latency. Equally from the position of attacker the experienced players are more likely to be able to consistently send multiple same-second attacks, insulating themselves from the risk of cutting. This makes it a two-fold advantage for experienced players, by your logic that would make it a greater threat to the game than this single-unit scouting?


    At the risk of getting a bit cliched - there are no problems, only opportunities. What advantage can be gained from this scouting "exploit"? I can think of a few ways in which it could be used to play mind-games with the enemy and i look forward to trying them if ever i get the opportunity. :)

  • @Zoo Keeper: I don't believe for a second that Mayo was successful thanks to this bug/feature. I've torn apart metas without ever using this particular little tactic, you really don't need it. If Mayo is as capable as you make him out to be, he won't need it either, it's just another tool. As others have mentioned, it's easily avoidable and therefore not very reliable against good opponents. You give this trick way too much credit.

    Apply this scouting xp is very hard, it requires great work from defender side, and have succes is even harder cause conditions are really hard to happen, very many factors must be known. If you can apply it with succes it means enemy has a really bad offensive plan or used it many times before without change, and you know very well enemy players offence hammer that you can guess more accurately. (scan your enemy is part of war and should be rewarding in some way) Smart or humble off plan can make many factor/condition simply not make happen , and make impossible hero xp scouting.


    You like the bully zerg tactic, and make disappear capitols in 5 seconds? then risk it. High damages, High risks. Or play travian legends, where is very popular! .....maybe because there aren't so many risks at the end.....


    PS: Please stop discrediting Mayo, as i said in a previous post, you dont know him. Your insinuations are ridiculous, annoying, i'd say at the edge of flame... you are beginning to be ridiculous, if you think Mayo can convince community and game disigners! :P

    First off i don't the problem with same second attacks as it directly from a game mechanic. Scouting is a bit like a cheat. Because you fail to scout by game mechanics, but you get information from other source which is here only for player comparison.


    Also look how they changed wave compared to earlier version of travian where you had to have multiple tabs or even plug the internet cord. It was made so new players can do it easily and everything is in game mechanic. Also the wave count depend on distance. Of Course you can say that statistic is part of game mechanic, but it is made for different purpose (compare players). My problem here is that you get information that you shouldn't have had in the first.


    All in all i made my point.


    Countering is such unsatisfying play where you basically have to ditch your hero.

    This server wont be my last server and i know this abuse, so i can use this against many players and get its benefit in all servers (many players dont know this "hero scout" thing and i can get advantage easily) BUT i am not doing this and i am reporting this thing on forums! But ofc, you are hating me because i share this on forum you dont want other players learn this and want abuse this against them. Although i asked @FabianF , you all started to post irrelevalent things about me again.


    PS: you are even afraid that a question that i asked Game Designer, calm boys, this is forum ppl ask questions. Dont be afraid that all players will know this abuse, if they know the gameplay will improve. But nvm you are just selfish :(

    Georgi already stated it was a game mechanic and not a bug and they will collate the feedback and discuss internally.


    Then you come here with hardly any time passing and demand a game developer to answer you personally. YOU are selfish.

  • Relax, Georgi, being community manager, is the communication line between us and the developer team. They saw the thread, if they see it as a problem they will fix it sooner or later. There are hundreds of questions/suggestions/other stuff that is asked daily through the forum or through tickets and they do their best to answer as many as they can. They noticed this thread so don't worry that they will take the necessary step if they think it needs to be but don't expect that they will answer you out of the many people asking questions because it is impossible to do it.


    About the selfishness, I don't know why you try to attack us, as I said multiple times, this "abuse" has helped your current kingdom more than anyone else so far, removing it would damage you in the first place, since the beginning I've been trying to help you guys out. Also I don't see how you could call us selfish seen the quantity of stuff that we have shared to the community either through public or private channels.


    This being said, I think we've had enough "drama" on threads that shouldn't have any, me in the first place so I'm sorry for it. I would be fine if the scout thing would be removed since indeed it doesn't make sense that a failed scouting gives hero experience even though he's not involved in the battle, even though it has always worked like this and it has never been a problem so far (no one tried to use it since it's not that easy to do in the first place, and if you do it randomly it takes a lot of time and if you talk about using bot to do it then that's a real punishable offence that if you have proof should be reported and sanctioned). But I think it would remove a lot of strategic choices and opportunities from the game. It's up to the developers now to decide what they see fit for their game.

Did i ask you a question? Did i say anything about you or your kingdom? As i said before, i am not playing on only our server and i am going to play on as much as servers i can, i told my wievs and i am wondering if they change this or not, so i asked to GD, why do you post such "dramas" to me? Is this an Embassy Thread? or did i mention any server or player ??

  • Lylay, since it is not a bug, and maybe only an abuse that can be exploited only in very rare cases i think is not a high priority for game designers. I'm following the development of this travian kingdom game since the very first beta server (3 years ago? i dont remember) and changes happen very slowly, even after many month. Asking after a week if an idea will be implemented or try to understand what game designers are going to do or if they are working about it, is not ''good education'' for my standards in a game forum and 99% useless after players were warned that this thread's idea is already forwarded to game center.


    I learned to keep an eye on Announcement section often, and stop. You cant expect that a game designer reply you here only beacuse you aked him, i'd be surprised cause usually it never happens in the most of idea-suggestions.


    The logics behind my words are '' if everyone did it philosophy'' ''wait and hope''... and many years experience on travian forums. Probably was this that Mayo and Renuo wanted to say.
    In the case you are waiting an answer or fix from game designers in order to plan your next off op with a zerg tactic or not in your servers... i suggest you to change strategy meanwhile, it could take some time, as always, for this kind of things!

    This community is for all players not just the ones who yell and scream the most.
    They already said they are collecting the feedback. You don't need to keep harrassing them, it doesn't give you another vote...
