Disable reinforcements to grey villages

  • For admins: It would be better if the option to reinforce grey villages would be disabled, or if that is not possible, just make it like natar villages: troops to return after they reach as reinforcement a grey village.
There are enough problems and complains about spiking the inactive... when would you take proper measures against it? Do we have to spike a whole server and ruin it so you may do something about it?

this topic came up several times already (tho im not sure if including any feedback from devs) and basicly the perceived half of the community was against and the other for keeping spiking a thing. (thats why) i doubt that this will be removed in the near future although i also dislike spiking myself. also no amount of spiking will ever be enough to ruin a server. unlike say spamming multi accounts or something

  • I see that none of the devs/admins cared to responde.

Well, yesterday I've spiked test server for 24 hours and I am #1 in top deff. Do you (devs/admins) think that is fair? What about the 90k farming horses I've killed in that? Those frustrated off players who try hard to make some nice hammers... how do they feel about it?

I did it for small amount of time with small amount of troops and not coordinated spiking... just putting troops and let them there. But what if I do a dedicated spiking server, controlling the spiking and farming? Spiking and pulling back? All in the end game when every hummer is struggling to survive? Do you think player would find the game more interesting? I think not.

Is it so hard to implement one of the 2 options I've described in the leading post if this topic? If you don't care about the fun of the game, may be you'll care when this will get to your decreasing income from regular servers (not in free test ones)

  • Do you think it's fair that some people can gain free resources from inactives and build huge hammers without any risk/cost?

I'm glad you spiked a bit but you are overestimating its impact.I spiked too and you get bored very fast and lose more troops than you can afford fast, too.

I spiked 90k troops too on test then got bored and decided to annoy a bunch of noobs instead.Killing 400k troops defending myself was much more fun(that included a WW hammer 120k+).Truth is very few people farm server wide and nobody cares about your spiking and you can't sustain long term spiking server wide to make any impact.Get over it you just can't ruin servers and decrease travian income by spiking.Been there, tried it,spent about 500 euros building a rank 1 account only for spiking.

And implying everything in Travian is about "the frustrated off players that try to make nice hammers by farming inactives" is ridiculous.

You are quite funny tho in your short sighted tilt :D

  • We'll see about that...

    What you gonna do?

Looks like another noob discovered spiking and is in a mission to make it have any real impact.

Spiking was around for years, many people tried it but unlike farming inactives(that HAS impact on a server giving farmers a big edge) it's just a side gig.By the time you set up an account, even kingdom, for spiking on a paid server you will be burn out.

Good luck on your mission tho :D

  • Been thinking about this noob today..he's a 5 expansion slots,722 (out of 1000) ranked player that wants to dictate Travian Kingdoms game rules :)

I see he has been freeloading with BM for 3 servers now..so maybe his BM masters will show him the way?

Mayo,Jak,Renuo,Ly can you please educate this noobie? :D

Stand aside, we have a new product manager here who knows what the community needs ^^^^ ....
On a serious note, i sometimes use spiking inactives to find who are the raiders around my area :)
People who do not understand the concept that this game is a resource management simulator + inherent strategy are stuck with a one-dimensional idea that this game is only about one big hammer dashing on the ww or treasury. :')

  • I hate spikers, as a regular farmer (whether playing off or def) it annoys me no end. However, it is a perfectly valid tactic, one i used to use long before the days of inactive villages showing grey on the map. In fact, i would argue that if one or two kingdoms are dominant on a server due to a high proportion of capable, experienced players, then it actually serves to balance the scales a little. As such i can't support a bid to end spiking in good conscience, sorry iCnut. ;)

Granted there are a few players that draw on tactics such as this purely to buff their stats or ruin other players' games, but these types will always find a way to abuse the system. They deserve our pity, not anger.

  • I think the reinforcement is not a big issue in itself as it has been around since the start of travian.

The root of the problem, both for plunderers and spikers alike is that it is to easy to identify which villages to plunder/spike. This makes mass farming and spiking a bit to easy for the average player. It's to easy to spike but at the same time its also to little time investment in mass farming. And it's a huge edge compared to those not farming.

I think the entire issue would improve a lot if you removed that inactive players go grey after 7 days. It would also make it easier for aggresive players to make back their investment for clearing a player as they would have a longer time to get back before everyone else scoops in.

  • Do you think it's fair that some people can gain free resources from inactives and build huge hammers without any risk/cost?

Well its not limited to some people. Everyone can do that.

I think another option would be to disable defpoints for troops killed in grey villages. This way you could still do spiking to deal damage to big raiders/kingdoms but people would stop doing that just for points.

  • One option I could see as a solution that would benefit both sides is disabling the deff points of inactive villas from residence, wall, ditch and morale bonus as well as disable reinforcing them. Also increase spear attack to 15. This way all tribes could farm with deff units even. Of course this will still benefit attackers slightly more because they have better raiding units. But it would also allow defenders to raid as well

  • I feel that you cant just remove spiking nor stop active raiders to over farm grey areas over other players on the server .

It all comes down to what each player choose to do themselves .

Also regarding removing DEF points on inactive is not cool . Not just because it would be hard to find the guy spiking , but also because its not easy to spike so give the guy some credit if he is going for it :D

Now coming to inactive villages turning grey and making them public to all after 7 days is not a big issue but is a disadvantage to the guy who clear them out in the first place let him feast longer on his prey before he shares his Earnings
