[discussion] 15cropper – your feedback is needed

  • I dislike the adding of even more PvE to a PvP game. It would be cool and interesting, no doubt, but it just doesn't fit in a PvP game. You would have to spend a decent chunk of the already short gameround to get your cropper, you have to blow a lot of troops into robbers, every now and then even more robber (camps) appear and then there's the natarian 15c. If you want to make a PvE game in the style of Travian fine, I'd probably test it, if it's fun play it, but don't force even more PvE changes to a PvP game with a PvP community - please.

    Right now the best strategy is to sim in a corner all round without any pvp and just win? Looking at last coms that ended this is what people do, pvp is quite small nowadays let's not fool ourselves. Not preformed kingdoms either fold on first attack and join a meta or delete and go to another server and become the meta. If experienced kingdoms start fighting first months another kingdom will sim in peace and win just by having bigger numbers overall because they didn't use them.


    I think it adds a bit of conflict and opportunity in the beginning with you being able to cata the natar if you see our enemies are going for it, or even try to snipe chief them. I think it also adds some teamplay with people needing to organize a bit to get a natar for a player that can't take it solo or just to help with chiefs. Whereas before anybody could get a 100% 15c first day with fast settle and gold it as fast as possible. Everybody was minmaxing this cause it was so easy to do, even as a new player with the 40 gold you get it's easy to get a cropper and countered only by sending settlers faster than the other.

  • Pondering upon this idea for a day, I'd have to say that it doesn't looks like a good idea for existing Travian gameplay which is meant to be highly PvP and should stay that way. We don't see many PvP happening , true but that needs a different approach to address it. Few of them have been discussed around in the Forums every now and then, most recently limiting the kingdom sizes .

    Saying all that, the idea in itself sounds cool, and maybe we can have another version of Travian which is sole PvE (with options of PvP too but with minimal benefits). It could be a collaboration game and could go this route :


    • Players join the server. All croppers 15c/9c are occupied with OP Natars , you'll need teamwork to take it from them. Rest the same mechanism which Sheila enlisted in her post.
    • At day 111 WW opens with even more OP Natarian defense and players then use their WW hammers to try and chief the WWs.
    • Once a WW is chiefed Natars start attacking WW with around 10x troops size.
    • Once a WW reaches level 100, natars attack every 24 hours continuously.
    • Game finishes when all WW reaches level 100 before day 150, if they don't Natars Wins, if they do Players wins.

    It'll be a pure collaboration game, mainly PvE game but players will need to address the following :

    • Try to not pick up fights with each others , which is going to be hard considering Human nature and blood lust.
    • Battle of Ego between different kingdoms to agree on certain things.
    • A vast increase in Inter-kingdom communication since you cannot win alone and need all other kingdoms to do their parts.
    • A limited kingdom sizes will also ensure that there are 7 different kingdoms for each WW , we can also add 2 more WWs to make the total count to 9, which will allow around 9-10 kingdoms to be active throughout.


    This will allow players to choose between PvP and PvE versions, technically PvE will be less stressful even with OP natars since AI will always be readable and after few rounds players will know the patterns etc but it's easy to develop a mechanism which increase the Natar's troops counts based on average troops counts of server to keep it challenging enough.

    Travian was and is a PvP game essentially but a separate PvE mode can be refreshing!

  • About the cropper delay, it would just be the same with the inactive player settling down on cropper, and it would just delay the hammer creation for end game. I think it would just be nice to leave them as it is now. About NPC village, the concept sounds good, might need a tester server to see how it played out.

  • Specific Questions:

    • What kind of little rewards or special items would you think would be fair for successfully defending against these NPC troops? We are thinking about resource chest. Would you prefer resource piles? Or something else?

    Would love to get a speciel item for the hero that is unique to doing this. Could be a armor that reduce damage on troops or something else. This would give the game a new level for players. I would love this.

    • Should this new NPC tribe have siege engines and therefore the power to destroy player buildings and/or even whole villages? Or would that be OP in your eyes? If so, which kind of restrictions would even it out or would you prefer to just cut out this option for good?

    I would love it. It would make the game more fun and give it a new level. But i would also want a unique reward for my hero. This way i dont mind the challenge.

    • Is there anything else you would want to change? What is your general opinion of this concept? What do you think, will be other benefits of this new feature?

    I like the new feature, hopefully it can be ready for a test soon or for the new server in end feb. I would enjoy special items for heroes. Right now I miss new content that isnt just changing how we play but also add to it. New races or items could both add this. In this case defending against natars could provide such a item. I believe plain resources would simply be boring, whats the worth gaining som resources. I mean i often dont even want to farm anymore because there is nothing new to this.


    Anyway high hopes that we will be rewarded something that isnt just resources.

  • A new tribe of NPCs defending 15 and 9 is very interesting, the main thing is that 15 and 9 were more,

    I used to play LEGEND, and without any problems I could have several 15 and 9, now for the first time I play the KINGDOM, and I don't have a single 15 and 9.

    I just did not have them.

  • Leave current setup for some servers, add new setup for other bunch. Compare where you have more user activity (as it's for sure not a business pitch to spend more gold on exchanging resources for crop as surely that's not the goal you want to achieve right?)


    in my opinion idea is least to say weird. Whatever the approach will be - the starting phase will require more gold investment. It is a naive approach that people will now "stop rushing" and will be no speed settling... if anything it will only make it happen more.


    I like some of the idea, don't like execution.

    Making more NPC's and making them more interactive - that's nice.

    Finding some weapons / armour (maybe Legendary+) only by completing certain objective - that would be nice.


    Changing balance of 15c alone? disaster. Someone here wrote about the worse case scenario "players with multis will take all".

    It's not worse case, it's simply logical and realistic and based on this game reality. Nuff said.

  • dont like the idea at all.
    if u want to get a good cropper, u have to be fast, if not, your own problem.


    defenders get no chance without help to get a 15c for treasury or somethink.


    and i dont like it to have my off so much smaler then usualy and settle 10 time sbevor i even get a 15c.


    just race it. if u dont get it, u are just to slow for it.

    and making even more npc bullshit into a pvp game makes it more boring for "pvp" players, who search the conflict against other and not a bot.

  • after reading all the comments, my opinion is:



    1. pls. dont implement this new feature !!!

    (seems the idea is from someone who didnt played the last servers)


    2. pls. consider more the ideas made from players in the forum !!!


    - to have more action in the game, change the VP-counting

    from dayly to permanent-counting (like the CP-counting)

    so none can hide treasures and we can attack the treasuries for getting VP and treasures


    - let disappear the 0-pop villas from player with only this villa in the moment they went grey

    (there are always player, who occupy a cropper, dont play and only come online after some days,

    so the villa cant disappear)


    - for solving the problem, that less active players with a cropper, which they dont realy use/need

    it would be nice to think about the idea of terra-forming

    I guess there is a big potential to discuse how it can be realized

  • the game is already competitive at it is , you dont need to added certain rules to make it more competitive.


    plus it will be hard for the new players to settle .


    this will make players leave the game earlier than usual .

  • Bad idea. Multikonts will occupy the majority of 15c, and you will be minus 50k of crop and 15c or 9c missing. You will have to spend a lot more coins on the NPC. But you probably mean it? Are you going to the pay to win model? P2W?


    In my opinion, it should be possible to take over gray capitals on the 9c and 15c crops. If someone does not play, why should he occupy the right places on the map?


    Crops should be more. But, of course, it will not be, because I wrote the reason above (P2W) :)


    OFFy for a WW will be smaller and it will be easier to defend a WW. Players OFF will have more difficulties and players DEFF more easily.


    This is not a good solution. It will end with the fact that people who do not spend a lot of money on the game will have even harder time and will leave it. You lose the players and that's it.
