Suggested changes to Menhir function

  • Now, going back to menhir... as some of you mentioned, like Jak , there are good solid reasons why the menhir function adds to the game and we need to keep it.

The most pressing issue then is, can we do something to avoid or dampen abusing that feature?

How can we ensure that it is not worth abusing without damaging honest players in the process?

I apologize for derailing the conversation, I just had wishful thinking that we could delete it.

I completely agree with Jak. The sole function of it has to be relocation, if you want to prevent it from being used by cheaters. I don't believe there is any way to have menhir and make it impossible to abuse. I also don't believe speed settling should be a feature to this game. In my opinion, features that would help balance it would be:

    1) Make it a one time function

    2) No resources refunded

    3) Fields destroyed

    4) Drop into a 3 day noncancelable BP and/or a mandatory 72 hours in BP for those who menhir but have not left the original BP

Even with points 2 & 3 it is better than suiciding which is why I think this penalty is appropriate

It's still abusable, but less so.

  • The best thing would be to get rid of the menhir, but as it is the only influential update made to the game it will never be removed, not to admit that the developers have failed.

Even if you make changes you fix on one side and break on the other.

How have they failed? They are asking their community for suggestions for balancing, I think think the effort they are making is great.

I wouldn't say it is the only influential update as they did many more who were much more influential (like no switches after lvl 50 WW, top WW giving only 50% bonus, not being able to steal VPs from govs, new kingdoms format, etc etc).
This is one among many other changes along the years, the problem is that none of these changes was in the right direction in my opinion

  • 1) Make it a one time function

I'll be honest, personally I like the idea, but thinking about the normal players, how you need to play Kingdoms... if you have a good kingdom from the beginning that is all you need... but what happens with new players that are looking for a kingdom and need time, and some times more than a try, to find the right one?

If we implement this we may be condemning them... I don't see how we can implement this without affecting more players and worsening the experience for them.

    2) No resources refunded

Again, for more experience players and the ones with a Kingdom that will help them recuperate, fine, but what happens with new players that are starting their Kingdoms journey and need all the help they can get?

Would this not stop them from been able to have the right game experience?

I see it difficult to implement.

    3) Fields destroyed

This already happens, so all good there. :)

    4) Drop into a 3 day noncancelable BP and/or a mandatory 72 hours in BP for those who menhir but have not left the original BP

That would mean that a player could potentially be in BP almost constantly for as long as needed to reach what ever goal they need. I see it difficult without some more polishing.

But this are just my thoughts, may be I am missing some good way to implement some of them.

    Anyone, any ideas?

  • As I said earlier like me many have pretty bad experience from menhir system. I really don't like it..

Anyway.. If you want to keep that tools. here is my few advises.

    1. Open new kingdom to create instant open treasure spot. This can be use to abuse. So I recommend no one can use more than 2 may be 3 time to create instant open treasure spot.

    2. I don't like the destroy resources fields after relocate.
Because If you destroy than you need to refund (otherwise it wont be ok for normal type players + it will slow down the game greatly) and if you refund than highly likely abuse can be happen thru farming MA from some expert players. So no destroy no refund..

    3. Destroying warehouse level and granary level after relocate.
To slow down the early game abuse.
I like to mention here that early game abuse is the worse kind of abuse. So we must do something to slow it down.

    4. Cooldown. After relocate player cant attack next 12 hrs keep this rule.
I would like to see no one can attack the relocated vill (at least first 1-2 days) to stop MA farming (early game abuse). At least 1 time in the server.

    5. Player who have 1 vill/city for 30 days can not use menhir. (To stop jumper). Old account cant use menhir after 30-40 days after the game start (some pro players give away their vills to create a jumper vill/city).

    6. Reinforcement to MA vill to gain more crop income. It wont be easy to stop this abuse.

    7. 1:1 trade first 7 days.

    8. You must be more smart to catch MA 😑.

  • Delete it. Make it the old fashion ways, otherwise people will always find a way to abuse it as you state it more then clearly in your post lol

  • Menhir and resources packages is nice thing for different tactics of start development

If you want to block abuses you should make:

    1. Impossible to vacation 1-2 weeks from start server

    2. Impossible to farm resourses from packages (or send by market)

    that is all

also make it impossible to farm resources from demolish buildings

  • I like it, I have a bunch of ideas already for discussion with the team.

Please, keep them coming, if you have an idea how to implement one or the other, the exact way, even a small point, tell us so we take it into account.

Some times that is the most difficult part, finding the small detail that makes it work.

  • Lots of good points here, but I will pick and choose a couple to make comment on.

Point 2. Why are fields destroyed in the first place? Doesn't make sense to me. I agree to remove this and therefore have no need to refund resources. Solves that problem.

Point 4. Cooldown on menhiring is a good idea. Maybe 12h below 200 pop, 3 days over 200 pop. I have still seen people try to menhir hop to an enemy WW and wait out the 12h. Make it a one way trip if you can't stop it.

Point 5. Agreed. If you've been playing for a month you've probably settled down with your current kingdom. Why haven't you got your 2nd village already?
"Maybe their allies are unhappy and are cat-ing them?"
I suggest paying attention to allies attacking allies and investigate in certain situations. Surely you are collecting statistics that would make this analysis relatively easy?

An additional thought by me for menhirs is that you cannot menhir if the troops numbers in your village are greater than 5k cc.

Additionally you can menhir with your troops elsewhere, they just cannot be in transit.

You cannot recall your troops within that 12h period that you cannot send. You cannot also recieve or send resources.
E.g. you are a player that somehow has a 20k army and one village and you want to leave your current kingdom. You can reinforce the treasury of your new kingdom (however many hours walk that is). THEN you can menhir. Then after 12h you can recall your troops.
This could eliminate people menhiring beside WWs to attack them as they need to store their army in someone else's village first. Then menhir, wait 12h (in which the other kingdom can demolish the village), then recall their army which potentially needs to walk 6h, starving the whole way. Also demolish their TS for them. Enforce tired troops so travel times are extended for 2 days after as well?

  • They relocate new accounts to the game and establish a kingdom from them and plunder them until the last day.I am gradually trying to think that the damage of Menhir is more than good things of Menhir,or really multihunters are like robots in the game, if cheaters aren't get caught in the system.

There are two ways to solve it:

Menhir is completely removed, but the good parts of Menhir will disappear as well.

A multihunter system that can apply not only what the system shows, but also what it knows. These guys are not caught in the system check it out after 3 days ban these accounts and looter. After all, these guys were teleported here, then expelled from the kingdom, then looted. Is being multihunter is to wait for them to forget the VPN to get penalty ?
