Suggestions for New Travian Managers

  • Since the roster has been renewed from the beginning,I would like to try my luck one last time.Maybe the managers( Unknown , Skadi )who really wanted to return the game to its former popularity have started to work.



    SERVERS


    Travian game servers are inadequate in infrastructure.There is lag at the beginning of every server and the players cannot start the game properly.First of all, TravianGames should take care of this and refresh all of its servers.Apart from that, the server crashes for a few hours after major battles in the game world.But the most important problem is that while sending an attack or defense in a game where seconds are very valuable, the server-induced delays of 1-2 seconds, not caused by the player,can change the fate of everyone who plays the game.TravianGames should renew all servers and provide a seamless service to players.



    MOBILE APPLICATION


    Nowadays,playing games has become mobile.The game has a mobile app,but it really has millions of bugs in it and offers an inadequate experience.Simply,the card game cannot be played in mobile.A company like TravianGames needs to see the course of the game industry and spend more resources on the mobile platform.With a decent mobile application, Travian can return to the old popular days,and we players can continue to play this game on our phones in a fun way.



    ADVERTISEMENT POLICES


    I do not even think that the game has an advertisement.I have never come across it before.If a survey is made,it turns out that the players are promoting this game.TravianGames needs to make ads specific to this game. If new players do not come,the community will not develop.New players should also be aware of this game.



    PRICE POLICY


    Players from all over the world even countries with strong local servers are playing this game.The currency of every country is not the Euro,and TravianGames may be a bit more player-friend than its pricing policy.Many companies (Steam,Amazon,EA,Netflix)have country-specific pricing policies.The biggest reason they can't do this is of course players who shop from outside of their region to buy gold for a cheaper price,but there are various ways to avoid this,by using one of these ways,TravianGames can also offer special pricing for players outside of the EU,thus increasing the amount of gold purchased by players and automatically their earning.



    COMPETITION


    The biggest reason why this game is enjoyable for me is the competition.The game is played in a more defensive way rather than an aggressive style of play.The most important reason for this is the current VP system.Each kingdom in Top10 or Top5 should be able to steal VP from each other, but there should also be some percentage of it.If you can steal 50 VP from the first kingdom, you get 25 from the second kingdom and 15 from the third kingdom.Thus,the top kingdoms do not only have to play defense after a certain period of time,and the kingdoms. have multiple strategies to get VPs.


    Second,crowded kingdoms with more than 2 WWs are drastically reducing the game competition.They are crowded and powerful from other kingdoms, limiting what their opponents can do when they have 3 WWs.The number of WW that a kingdom can receive should be limited to 2.Thus,competition is protected and we do not see kingdoms gifting WW to each other.


    In long-distance wars,especially in battles using siege,kingdoms can easily close their treasures.Treasury closure period should be extended.


    It doesn't make much sense to use a spy with no attack power only to track the XP of the hero.This is a feature that prevents large and detailed operations from being performed.In the game,defense is more advantageous than attack, and this feature makes that advantage even greater.The attacking side needs to be very careful and even if it cannot take action against only 1 spy,the whole operation plan is deciphered.My suggestion is that the spying process doesn't get XP.



    INNOVATIONS FOR KINGDOMS AND SECRET SOCIETIES


    Kings and dukes are guardians and rulers of a kingdom.They should be able to see the players' villages as in the secret society.


    While the map is being painted,there is also the ability to paint for the secret society,but this feature does not work, this error should be fixed.


    Subject headings that are opened should become erasable.


    New roles must come for both the kingdom and the secret society.Not every kingdom uses programs like discord.Even newly established kingdoms are difficult to recruit.If roles such as attack commander and defense commander are added to the game, communication and job sharing will be quite good.


    EVENTS


    Activities such as forum competitions,events,campaigns should be in abundance.


    The game should be an official discord channel.It would be nice to have an official environment where special rooms are opened for the servers and players can meet each other.


    Building and soldier skins have been changed in Travian Legends.We also need such changes.


    The images of the game worlds specific to seasons,special periods and big events may change.Like a snowy map in winter.


    Detailed statistics,detailed announcements and news after the game worlds honor all the players who play that game world.


    Kingdoms should be encouraged to use the forum actively and each association to open its own report page.


    Hun and Egyptian race should be added to the game.



    INSUFFICIENT TRAPPER


    Trapper is the weakest special building in this game.Changing the building makes unstoppable the Gallic race instead a few improvements can be added to this building.I have three different suggestions :


    - Captured soldiers should be able to be executed.


    - Captured soldiers should be able to be returned for a certain amount of raw material, depending on their type.


    - Should be able to convert a certain part of the captured soldiers into their own troops after a certain period of time by adapting their race.



    FIGHT AGAINST CHEATING


    - The biggest issue is slow feedback, they should be fixed.


    - The penalties should be made a little heavier.After a certain repetition,the account should be perma banned.


    - Should be more multihunters.


    - The game gap should be closed as soon as possible.(As an example of this,I predicted that it could be misused when the vacation mode first came out and I gave feedback about it,but I was ignored and eventually it became unavoidable.)


    - The rule book shared with the players must be followed.(The biggest example of this : "any account can't be opened for the benefit of another account",but multihunters are ignoring this rule.)

    Yes, I read every word, it took me most part of the day and several attempts due to several interruptions, but I wanted to make sure I gave it the proper attention.


    I thank you very much for every suggestion, you covered almost all aspects of the game and don't worry, they are perfectly understandable. Your English is better than many. :)


    Some are very necessary, like improving our Apps, although I must say it is a lot better than it used to be, so we are going in the right direction.


    There are things that may be out of our hands, like for example the pricing, but I am going to make a point of gathering every single idea and discuss it with the team.

    Long-distance war. It is normal time to deactivate treasury i think. Don't need to extend it. Defenders still have to make a decision - deactivate or not. Closure of treasury gives less VP.

    Nice suggestions. But there is an abuse to use: transfering resources from one player to another.


    Fight against cheating


    Yes, it is necessary to make penalties heavier.

    But what we can do with the proofs? Usually players don't have proofs somebody is cheating.

    Only the kings and dukes should be able to see the governors' soldiers without the need for society.It is a big problem for non-premade kingdoms that every governor can see each other's soldiers.

    There should be a kingdom-only tab in the market so that players in the kingdom can easily trade between each other.

    What TG can do in 2021: Steal ideas from Legends and copy paste them into kingdoms 4 EZ updates.

    Crush cheaters and force them to buy gold if they want an advantage.

    Use the money made from Rusisan Oligarchs to make improvements on the game :)

  • I forgot one of the most important issues.As Mayo stated earlier,if someone is on the GameDesigner team(if we have a team),it would be great for them to actively use the forum and exchange ideas with the players.

    Also,a player receives a warning when attacking a friend in the same kingdom,and should receive this when attacking someone in the same secret society.

  • This does not concern suggestions mentioned above, but currently upgrading village into a city kind of screws up your crop production in normal 6 or 7 crop villages. Getting instantly 500pop and total pop going around 1,3-1,4k does not actually allow much more troops to be produced. Resource production upgrade is really nice, but after all crop is the most valuable resource in the game. And concerning the scarcity of 9c and 15c sites on the map, it might be a good idea to allow a bit more crop production on other cities. This is a war game after all and currently crop is very limited supply and that limits players armies a lot.


    Solution would be a new building, fishery, working like a grain mill or bakery and would enhance crop production 25% further. Fishery could need lvl 10 ditch to be able to build and maybe be placed on a ditch? Below a bit math on current situation and what it could be:


    Current situation using 0% oasis villages and +25% crop boost:

    6c village produces 2250 crop and with around 700 pop you can support ~1,5k troops

    7c village produces 2625 crop with around 700 pop you can support ~1,9k troops.


    6c city can produce 4219 crop -1350 pop = supported troops ~2,8k (1,3k more than village)

    7c city can produce 4922 crop -1350 pop = supported troops ~3,5k (1,6k more than village)


    With fishery:

    6c city: 4922 crop - 1350 pop = supported troops ~3,5k (2k more than village)

    7c city: 5742 crop - 1350 pop = supported troops ~4,3k (2,4k more than village)


    How about effects on croppers?


    Without fishery:

    9c city: 6328 crop - 1350 pop = 4,9k troops

    15c city 10547 crop - 1350 pop = ~9,1k troops


    With fishery:

    9c city: 7383 crop - 1350 pop = ~6k troops

    15c city: 13305 crop - 1350 pop = ~11,9k troops


    So the improvements would not be huge, but it would counterbalance that pop boost nicely. Also I think it would make improving villages into cities a lot more appealing choice than it is now. If needed this building could be excluded in capital to limit crop production there.

    Primate I know there is soooo much here that amounts to very long term plans as it is a lot to digest and work in, but it is good to have this type of brainstorming, as it shows where the community wants to see the game.


    It is good to present this to the programmers and then we can work out the best steps forwards.

    This post states mostly the obvious ... and is sometimes a bit inaccurate.

    It is fairly obvious, that lag = bad, bad app = bad, no ads = less known = bad, bugs on map = bad, cheating = bad & forum activity = good, discord = good. If you find bugs, report them via help center btw, I bet the SS-marker-bug you mentioned in the op went unnoticed (or forgotten while reading the text after it).

    Sorry, but wtf? Yes, trappers don't do that much in the lategame. But they hard-carry early game because no sane farmer touches a gaul that potentially has trappers in the early game. You can save settlers & chiefs there for near to no cost and even in late game 2 trappers on 1x speed can trap almost a day production of clubs - it's not huge, but still very protective from farming, especially considering trap costs and building times.

    Roman's special building doesn't do anything in the early game and only becomes relevant as soon as you have a few k horses. Their trade office is useless until later aswell. Gauls have more of an early game focus, romans more of a lategame focus, so it's fine that trappers are strong early and weak later.

    The most important reason is the treasury system. In the beginning, you used to have only one treasury per village, leading to a much higher distribution of the treasures. More distrbution = more points that you can actually attack = more options and higher chance of success. (Yes, I'm aware, that requiring 10k treasures per treasury village won't work with one treasury per village).

    Now you have (almost) unlimited treasuries per village. So the main strategy right now is to throw all treasures into 1-2 villages and throw all defense behind a lvl 20 water ditch in that village is someone is attacking. Nobody cares about capitals (why bother? kings have tributes, governors are irrelevant), hammers (because most are in capital = not chiefable and zeroing isn't easy without allowing snipes) or random villages. And if you do have some treasures in other villages, they just get fetched away.

    It doesn't really matter how much VP you can steal and whom you can steal it from. With the current system, it's the best option to throw stuff against rank 1, who could try to prevent this by removing the other contenders preemptively, or steal stuff back if they drop, etc., but if you have to throw like 1 million [I know, a bit exaggerated] in hammers against a treasury just to have the chance of stealing stuff, nobody will even attempt to.


    And yes, the xp-trick is annoying. But tbh, valueable targets are very predictable anyways ... if an offplan was about tricking the defender in defending the wrong villages, you could just send the hammer without the hero to protect the information, rendering xp scouts completely useless. If the plan is to take stuff without running into defense anyway, you can maket he full bet aswell à la all or nothing.

    Why are people so obsessed with huns and egyptians? TG stated multiple times, that they will NOT add these tribes to Kingdoms, because they want T:L and TK to be noticeably different games. And honestly, I happily welcome that, egypts' waterworks are completely broken (source: I played them ... twice). I wouldn't mind a new (as in, different from T:L) tribe in Kingdoms if it's well designed and fills a nieche spot (but please no support-tribe, keep techaccounts out from TK and don't provoke them), but currently pretty much every playstyle kind of has a tribe that matches it, doesn't it?


    Btw, about the IGM point you mentioned (and kind of the stuff like seasonal skins): Every organized kingdom uses Discord (or similar) anyway, and Travian will never be able to compete with that. I'm fine that they don't bother trying and stick to the super-basic message system. It's enough for announcements, a spam chat and the ability to exchange discord tags. I'd prefer the dev-power used somewhere else - same with seasonal skins etc.
