I wish harsher punishments for MAing/botting + some game rule clarifications

  • Nobody really understands why TK admins encourage players to cheat. But they do.

    I can assure you that we don't.


    We already identify some ways some game mechanism were abused and changed those (just as an example recent Menhir feature change), as we are trying to not only look at punishments, but at changes we can do to improve the situation for everyone, nut just relying on catching cheating, but making it more difficult.


    We will keep working on it, may be not as fast as you wish, but we will get there for sure.

    I'm sure if you make punishments more harsh it also would solve alot. If you can punish all accounts that obviously abused some multi/abuse, alot will stop doing it (this is also suggested by cheaters themselves).

    To be fair I also agree that Travian is not encouraging players to cheat.

    Also it comes down to time when investigating, it can take a couple hours or it can take a lot more to put together the evidence needed to ban a player. Sometimes you have to watch a player for a day or more to see things you don't see right away. Making a mistake can also lead to legal issues when real money is involved.


    As for those who cheat...Whats the matter, not confident enough in your own play skills. It's just a game, play it as such and you may find there is fun in those hard fought wins as well as those close losses.

    Yes, that is actually one of the ways, could work, it is just little bit worrying. Back in the days people used scripts to be able to transfer rss on regular basis. What happend? Trade routes were introduced into the game. Back in the days, people used scripts to farm, so farm list was introduced. The same goes for introducing tributes, building slots, chicken boots, etc... What is always behind: the difficulty (if not incapability) to solve the problem. So lets turn the problem into legal element. Thats has been the evolution of the game for years. Personaly I dont think the problem will be solved. Instead of that, we just wait for a brand new game-feature:
    "main account - secondary account" ........ and new hats ;)

    Multi's is a problem for 2 years ( since my first server ), same player there, abused multies. 2 years past, 0 changes made. Same players abuse multies but even cockier and don't even hide it. What TK does ? - Nothing.

    Bans them for 5 hours and gives 10% pop loss, which is rebuilt in 30 minutes and they keep cheating.
    In my eyes, this is encouraging to cheat, because cheating gives INSANE advantage, even if you get caught once or twice.

    Using bots is less beneficial then Multis because you only use the res you already have. Multis create res you didn't have.

  • One additional thought on the idea of punishments.
    Its not that imporant if Bots or Multiaccs are worse.
    But if you want to fight rule breaking with punishments, then the punishment needs to hurt more than every advantage you have gained by breaking the rules.
    The price of consequence must be higher then the profit. Otherwise punishments wont work.

    100% this, please explain why punishments are so small that rule breakers don't even care to hide it in forums.

    We will discuss it in the conversations regarding multi punishments.

    Again? This same thing has been said hundreds of times with the same reply, nothing ever happens.. I assume this time wont be different, the multiabuser gold is just too much to turn away from it seems.

  • As was said before. If punishment is the tool of choice, it has to be harder then the benefits. Or its meaningless. If somebody knowingly breaks the rules, he has to feel that it was a stupid idea. Not a smart one.
    If you dont want that, you need mechanisms that stop the possibility of abusing multis accs.

    And for the record. If gold realy is the reasoning here. Im pretty sure you will earn more from happy players, who like to bring their friends into a working Travian world, then you would from the cheaters.
