# Merchants Speed

• Hello everyone
I have a series of ideas for the marketplace and merchants that I send them separately in different topics. Please comment. Thank

The first idea:
The speed of merchants with and without resources should be different. Naturally, a full and empty cart moves at different speeds. Therefore, merchants must move faster when they do not have resources.

This idea can be added to the game in two simple and complex ways.
1. Simple Way:
The speed of the merchants of each tribe is known. Use this speed as the speed of merchants when they have resources with them. The speed of merchants when they do not have resources can be a coefficient of their speed when carrying resources. For example, this coefficient can be 2 or 1.5.
If the coefficient is 1.5
- Romans merchants: Speed with resources 16 f/h Speed without resources 24 f/h

- Gauls merchants: Speed with resources 24 f/h Speed without resources 36 f/h

- Teotons merchants: Speed with resources 12 f/h Speed without resources 18 f/h

1. Complex Way:

In this way, even when merchants carry resources but the amount is less than their total capacity, their speed increases. For this purpose, the speed of merchants in all conditions, whether they have resources or not, is calculated from the following formula
S = D + (C-R)*k*D/C
S = Speed obtained of merchants
D = Default Merchant Speed at Full Resource Capacity (which is the current game speed)
C = Capacity
R = The amount of resources that come with merchants
K = Fixed coefficient determined by developers = 0.5

For example, let's do these calculations for the Roman tribe. In three different situations.

D=16, C=500, R=500(Use the full capacity), K=1.5
S = 16 + (500-500)*0.5*16/500 = 16 f/h

D=16, C=500, R=0(Without any resource), K=1.5

S = 16 + (500-0)*0.5*16/500 = 16 + 8 = 24 f/h

D=16, C=500, R=250(With resources less than capacity), K=1.5

S = 16 + (500-250)*0.5*16/500 = 16 + 4 = 20 f/h

So if the Roman Merchant has only 250 resources (less than capacity), its speed will be 20 instead of 16 when it goes, and it will be 24 when it returns.

• Or just make it so that 1 level of trade office increaces merchants return speed by 10% for gauls and teutons and for romans that 20%

I disagree. Do you move faster by carrying an object weighing 20 kg or without carrying it? Well, the animal also gets faster. They need less rest in the middle of the road and ... So we should not relate this inherent feature of merchants to trading office. And this feature must be present from the first merchant.
As for the fact that the coefficient of each tribe is different in your text, I must say that I still disagree. Why? Changing the inherent characteristics of tribes is wrong in my opinion. With the numbers you announced, you are trying to control the speed of gauls and increase the speed of other tribes, and this is wrong. Although the amount is small.

I like to think that trade office makes better carts thus decrease in travel speed. Since romans already get that 20% in carrying capacity/base lvl why not 20% in speed too as romans are calvary oriented tribe with their HDT

• Thank you very much for your suggestion Haji#EN(1)

I like it very much, anything that makes the game more realistic I am for it totally... but...

What could be the impact in the game?

How do you think this would impact the game?

What does everyone else think about it?

Thanks for the question Unknown

But what effect will this have on the game?
When the return of traders increases, naturally, the speed of sending resources also increases. But how much? And how effective can it be? In many cases, sending resources is done only once and there is not much need for those merchants until hours later. So coming back sooner has no effect on the merchants who are usually unemployed in many villages.

But this feature can be effective if we want to send resources sequentially. But how much?

Let us illustrate it with an objective example:

- Normal Server Speed 1

- Merchant return rate coefficient 1.5 (I explained this number in the first post in the first method)

- Distance from the first village to the second: 1

- Tribe: Roman

The speed of the Roman merchant with the current game method is 16
Resource transport time = 1/16 = 3:45 minutes
The whole route = 3:45 + 3:45 = 7:30 minutes => 60 / 7:30 = 8
Therefore, this merchant can travel 8 times.
8*500= 4000
So this merchant can carry 4000 sources every hour without a second break.(one speed)

But with my suggested method(two speed):
Resource transport time = 1/16 = 3:45 minutes
Time to return to the village = 1/(16*1.5) = 1/24 = 2:30 minutes
The whole route = 3:45 + 2:30 => 6:15 minutes => 60 / 6:15 = 9.6
Therefore, this merchant can travel 9 times. With some extra time

9*500= 4500

So this merchant can carry 4500 sources every hour without a second break.(one speed)
--------------------------------

In general, this feature increases the resource transfer rate for the Roman race by 20%
If we do the same calculations for the other two races, we reach 20%.

Therefore, if a village wants to send resources continuously, this method will increase the speed of sending resources to that village by 20%.

• Haji#EN(1) I am happy to report that your idea has been talked about in the team and we liked it a lot as an idea.

But, Kingdoms is a strategy game, not a simulation, having different speeds would make it more difficult to plan.

When planning our deliveries and returns it is easier if the speed is the same both ways.

For that reason it is not something we would like to implement right now in the game.
