Why is the game dead?
-
-
Lol, bit extreme isn't it.
Current policy on bans for multiing:' You're arrested for stealing 20m euros, pay us back 1m and we let you go'.
It's getting annoying starting every round and 0 prestige players asking to join and you just have no idea what to expect. It could be a legit new player, but are you going to take the risk keeping in mind that certain people would die for having a spy in a kingdom?
It is also getting tiring facing the same groups of people, who get banned every server, brag on the forums how great they are in cheating and are provoking the admins (sometimes way over the limit).
A proven user of a own made bot for 5 years gets permabanned and now just gets to play every new round on a multi acc they have in reserve. Lol.
I still take more proud in a hard fought 2nd place with action then having a 400-700+ group of players and cheat your way to a win.
Morals...
-
I think we all have our roles to play in encouraging a new audience to the game.
Players need to be more honest, reports problems when they spot them & not look for ways to exploit the game.
Everyone should look for exploits in the game. If there are any then they need to be fixed. You should never rely on the good will of people.
Also people need to stop coming on here (the forum) just to post negative comments all the time & then carrying on playing the game, just looking for other ways to come & be more negative about the game again. People read these comments before signing up & then don't bother & find some other game to play instead
People have every right to voice their opinions. If people were to simply stop playing instead of voicing their (negative) opinions then things wouldn't get changed. "Hey players are leaving, wonder why? We never hear anything from them."
if you like & continue playing the game, then also look for positive things to write about too (there must be some reason you keep playing or you would just quit)
The good reasons shouldn't need mentioning. What we need to avoid is people complaining without proposing solutions. People who complain should at the very least do so in a clear manner with good examples and preferably specific cases that they can back up with screenshots and other data.
They also need to apply harsher punishments for anyone seen to be abusing the game multiple times, 3 strikes & you're out kinda thing
anyone can make a mistake (we're all human)
2 times is questionable3 times though is a serial offender & need to be gone from the game
People make new accounts. IP bans don't work with how easy it is to get a VPN.
Devs need stop adding new features until all the current features work as intended.
Then when everything is working & we're all in a happy place, a marketing campaign/re-launch should be considered, to bring fresh players into the game
Sounds good, doesn't work. It is simply not how the industry works. You need problems that you can fix in order to create a positive feedback loop. You need to keep coming with new ways how you service the players, bugfixes are a big part of that.
The time for happy clappy nonsense has passed. The fixes they made last month should have been made last year. The rallypoint additions they made... a year ago on the top of my head, have been requested since at least 2017 I believe.
And we need a new community manager. Nothing more infuriating than constantly having to correct him on how the game works.

Yes that's a lot of negatives Pinkguy#NL and now for some positives?
I'll kick this off by adding in a couple of mine
I love the simplicity of the game, that it isn't all bells & whistles on my screen & is something I can play whilst I'm at work.
also I love being part of a team & think the social aspect the game brings is brilliant, whether that is encouraging your own team to be the best they can be,
or interacting with the enemy in the server embassy threads and creating verbal wars in them.
so what keeps you logging in playing?or coming here flaming?

No positives for you. Read my activity. I've been here since beta and given lots of feedback. If you want happy clappy nonsense then you won't find it here. They know what we like about the game. We provide info on what we'd like to see. Either they provide, or the mood will keep getting more gloomy.
You can't expect us to stay happy about the extremely bad customer support and community management that we've had.
-
The game is overwhelming for new players, too much to keep up with and if you don't play then everyone is passing you. Worst thing is when stronger kingdoms gang up on your kingdom and then everyone has to quit because all troops died defending the treasury and now were all farms. GREAT!
We need regulations to make the game fair otherwise only the strongest (huge kingdoms who don't log off) WIN!
Maybe some morale system that can punish strong players for attacking weak players, it seems right to me.

This is half the problem though, when you come here and just say negative things & yet continue to show passion about the game, it gives very mixed messages. I mean you did still play right?

I think he explained you pretty well why negatives have to be called out for..
A lot of players getting mixed messages from management all the time when Unknown kept telling the HaHu worlds are working, when they actually had like 1% improvement.
Passion dies out when you find out there has been lot of cheating going around.. Yes, some of us did play and enjoy until they lost hope for the game and they come to complain here.
Besides isnt discussion what the forum is for? Or only memes, reports and recruiting?
Do you still blindly trust its all good after some bugs have taken so long to eliminate, people are hinting some are still out there and our suggestions will most likely be nothing more than just ideas. That greed will probably win and travian turns out into silly cartoon for exploiting younger audiences and only adding lootbox-like features not what the general playerbase recommends and ask for... The game is technically still in beta status,, so it hasnt really ever been alive ))
-
Do you not think I don't know there are negatives in the game? I just don't see the point of coming to the forum day after day to just whine about it.
Yes Cheats & Abuse have always been a problem & over the years I've been one of the most vocal at trying to expose anyone doing so, I think every server we ever played has had some kind of abuse happening on it, But we never let it consume us & become our only reason to post on here.
The forum was never more active than when our team was playing (we were good at creating drama for the right reasons if nothing else)
The forum used to be a place for fun & banter & lots of people were attracted to the game because they read about the battles & saw the excitment that the game created. Todays audience just read how bad everything is, even though most of those posting still login and play the game everyday (so it can't be all bad really)
Cheating is not only a problem for travian, it's a problem for all online games & I think it just not healthy to only ever post negatives or ask for change, when changing things then creates new problems & new abuses are discovered that then again need fixing.
This is why I think the Devs should fix the game to a more stable state & then moving forwards after that we can think about adding in new features, but lets please try and bring more fun back to the forums, so that we may also entice new blood into the game again

What else can we do hmmmmmm???????
We aren't really given the tools to do anything except voice our opinions.
There is a lot of positivity in the game and in the discord servers of all the teams I am / have been part of.
The forum is for announcements and player feedback.
You know what. Lets apply your "logic".
You don't like how the forum is used? Just stay away.
Things used to be nicer, cause the feedback was actually listened to. Problems were fixed in weeks instead of years. If people are bitter then it is their right to be so. It is not their fault for becoming like that, it is the disastrous state of community management.
then everyone has to quit because all troops died defending the treasury and now were all farms
I feel ya. Underdogs can't form in a game, they need to join a bigger kingdom and then work their way up.
Daninho and I met at a German server (we're not German). We made a small group of less than 10 players. We then started COM7, made a quite big kingdom but were forced to join FnF as dukes (WORST DECISION EVER). After that fiasco we started COM8 as a proper half-kingdom which put us in a good position for a union. Unfortunately we had to make some concessions and were again not a vice king I believe but we did prove our worth that server by making it very active from our end. Now we were part of the core that led Vanguard to victory on COM2.It was a long road, almost 2 years I believe.
You can't get there by trying to just turtle up, you really need to play the diplomacy part too.

Congrats on the win
But I just clicked into the com2 chat .... where was the fun & banter ??
it seems to have been overlooked, well it never made it to the forums anyway

In the game. Not the forum. Please come back when you've learned how to read.

but yeah, ingame is great
but i remember the days when the forum was lit
this was always a huge part of the game too
my reply relates to the topic of this thread, you must see that lack of banter suggests nothing exciting happened there. meaning no outside audience has a clue because you made it a private party

Jeeez guuuys get a roooom already

Thank you all for your comments.
Yes, I see why you may feel I was not giving you the information you wanted to have, I was giving the one we had and saying the truth, it was better than at the beginning and as the devs were working at it it kept improving slightly until it finally was fixed.
Regarding cheats, yes, I agree, there is work to do in that front, although we are much better than before, we can still improve, of course, and I hope that with your help we will be able to do so. And yes, everyone has to chip in informing of everything you know/see...
Pinkguy#NL I understand your frustration, and could even say that I share some of it, although there are things we can do to improve.
I invite you personally to send me some PMs with your opinions on how I can improve, I will do my best to do what ever is needed for the community to improve.
And regarding exploits/bugs/other issues, you can do the same as well. I will always fight for the community and the game. Give me specific details in private and I will surely bring it up to the meetings with the team to ensure it is looked into.
I do believe the community is something that we all have to collaborate on improving. The community needs you guys to be able to improve long term. You are the heart of the community!

Unknown How come you guys don't make any YouTube videos, its free advertising and you can engage with the community. We would like to see what is going on behind the scenes and put some names to faces
Also maybe set up a discord server, user engagement is important to keep the game alive and healthy!

Look at the top of your screen, what is right next to the forum button? XD

From a noobs perspective imo the biggest issue is all the large premade groups that take over servers and by doing that chase off most new players, which naturally causes the playerbase to decline. Those same people will generally blame everything else without realizing that they are the problem, similar things have happened in a lot of other games

We already have a Discord server:
Regarding videos on youtube, I don't think I am good for it, if I was I would have already done it... some youtubers earn so much money!!!
But I really don't believe I would be good for it.
