My feedback as a newer player

  • Hello,

I've been playing Travian Kingdoms for just over a year now. I'm a heavy Gold spender, and look to improve my gameplay every server I play. I've only been in 2-3 Threads in the Forum, and I've come to witness just how divided the Community and Community Management Team are. To say the least, it doesn't look good. From my own perspective, I'd say the main reasons the community are constantly in uproar and lack respect towards the Community Managers and Development Team are so many things that should be easily fixable, yet somehow take years to implement.

There are certainly some things which require extensive internal discussion, and may never have a perfect solution to fix all issues, at least not without creating new ones. However, it is silly how there is an enormous list of both bugs that shouldn't take long to fix, and issues that objectively are easy to decide a fix on, and wouldn't take long to implement.

Here are a list of some suggestions I have, which should be extremely easy to add to the game:

-When a Robber Camp is cleared, send a Report to the King showing all 5 members who cleared the Camp.

This will solve the issue of Camp Sniping. It's undeniable that it's not fair those who have the fastest troops (RIP Teutons) are outright disadvantaged when it comes to first come first serve. Many Kingdoms take it upon themselves to enforce their own set of rules, to make Robber Camps shared across Kingdom members. This Report would allow Camp Snipers to be identified, which would prevent people from being able to snipe anonymously. Currently there is no way for Kingdoms to enforce this, and drama always ensues from Camp Sniping. This is a healthy change for the game, reducing Camp Sniping, which in turn improves Kingdom morale and enhances the teamwork focus of the game.

-Give Secret Societies the same Map Marking privileges as Kingdoms.

Organized premade groups in servers, and even random groups that align early, always have to make Secret Societies for their Kingdoms to be able to communicate. Those Secret Societies tend to exist to the end of a server too. It would be a huge increase in convenience if Secret Societies shared the abilities Kingdoms have to permanently color code Map Tiles, and color flag Players. Generally groups just get a King/Duke from each Kingdom to create the same map markings layout, which is just tedious and has increased chances of errors. Please add this for the sake of giving teams less of a headache in the early game. Organization and communication should be rewarded in Travian Kingdoms, a game centralized around teamwork.

-Add a maximum Capacity of 60 Members per Kingdom.

This is simple, it works well in Legends, and has since Travian Classic. Winning in just raw numbers is the most unfair way to win a server. There are so many positives to this suggestion that it's hard to think of where to begin. To start with, it gives more reward to Kingdoms winning simply by being better players, and more organized groups. Instead of just winning simply because they merged more groups together, or sent out the most invitations at the start of a server. Another perk to this is if Kingdom have a capacity limit, less merged will occur, which can result in a more action packed server, filled with more wars, confederacies, decision making, and more diverse strategic gameplay. This would ultimately improve the health of servers overall. Now I understand Kingdom's take on capacity is intended to be based on Kingdoms borders. But the flaw in that is Wing Kingdoms being created early on, and then merging into the big mega Kingdom later on once enough Treasuries have opened. The 60 member limit needs to be added for the sake of having less metas. Less metas means more Kingdoms, more Kingdoms means more action, more action means more fun, more fun means more people playing the game, and that leads to more money for TG. It's a win/win, please either add this or at least let's discuss it.

    -Improve the Chat Threads system.

The chat system can become a sea of messy threads between PM, Kingdom, and Secret Society. It would be nice if these all had their own tabs to select from. PM/Kingdom/SS1/SS2/SS3/etc. This would help clean things up, and prevent threads from being lost to time over a server. Constantly Secret Societies and Kingdoms end up recreating the same old Threads, because they're just so far down in their chat history that it's easier to just create new. Some threads get forgotten about and not recreated, simply because it slipped people's minds. This is especially a problem in situations like where a King is mass inviting people to their Kingdom, and any previous chats just get lost in a huge list of friends or randoms who were sent an invitational message. Please add Chat Category Tabs, for the sake of convenience, efficiency, and overall improvement of the game's features.

I would love to discuss these topics, and many more, with both other players and hopefully the Community Management Team. I hope to hear from people soon. :)

  • If they implement even a single one of these features, i'm completely gonna lose my shit, personally ask for forgiveness from Unknown for the many insults and amount of shit i gave him (tho he mostly doesnt understand) and have my faith in the future of this game restored.

  • Zer0 i have been monitoring your team, and you created one of the most beautiful teams and communities in less then a year. thank you for being a part in the Travian Kingdom first of all.
second - i think if the TK developer team actually listen to one of these, it will be amazing and will put the game on a different lvl.

personally my own team left completely around 2~ years ago, a heavy gold users that played this game from the moment it got released and they were a big part of this community Jallu  Curtain &Paul Rott  Negru Celo99 Pasam and more that i might forgot. i think some game fixs would bring alot of people back

  • Thank you very much Zer0kZer0#EN I love to see very well defined suggestions.

Simple, to the point and well explained.

The team will discuss it and I really hope we see some implemented in due time.

I have moved the thread to the right area, where it deserves to be since it has such nice suggestions.

  • Any progress on discussion or implementation of any of these suggestions? They should all be very easy to add to the game, so I'm hoping we see them in perhaps the next patch? At the very least the Add a maximum Capacity of 60 Members per Kingdom suggestion shouldn't take any longer than a day or 2 to add. And seeing that change come into the game would gain huge respect and praise from much of the community.

    Careful, you're within Crusading distance~

  • 1st - you dont need any report to king or whatever bs. Just make, so you attack only how much waves there is. If there is 4 waves, 4 players cant attack. You get error message, if you are 5th there. ( similar as if you attacked the one already)

    2nd - makes sense.

3rd - 60 members per kingdom is extremely low numbers. No kingdoms play with such numbers anymore. Anyway, as in Legends, same in here. It wouldnt make any change at a bigger picture. Less people would get winner medals, that's all. You would have bunch of wing kingdoms and player numbers wouldnt be any different.

4th - as it would be a good change, but knowing TK programing speed and all, i'd rather see other changes happening. Every decent kingdom is using discord anyways. Only plebs using the ingame chats.

    1. Also good idea!

    3. 60/70/80 however much, so long as a member limit around that amount is implemented, it'd be a big help. I don't ever expect this would be the big fix to Metas and Wings. I just think it'd be a good first step towards the issue.

    4. Problem with Discord is it shouldn't be a huge necessity. For leadership it's a good idea, but functions like linking Kingdoms/Players/Villages/Coordinates can't be used on there, which is where Discord becomes inconvenient. That and not all your Governors will tend to join the Discord, or aren't very responsive on it. So having in-game threads for things outside of leadership generally works better. Out of the 4 suggestions, this would probably take the most time and resources to implement, so I wouldn't mind if this was put on the back burner for the time being while other issues get resolved first.

  • I just wanted you to know that we have discuss this ideas and that we have the suggestions in our board of things we would like to see in future.

As you know, many things could influence its implementation, but for now there is no time frame for them.

I just don't see why it would take any longer than 1 month or so for things like this to come out. They're some of the simplest ideas code-wise, and discussion shouldn't take months to come to a decision. If things as small as these take so long to implement then I'm just curious where all the time and effort is being spent. I don't know how many programmers you have, or what hours they work, but these suggestions realistically, once approved, should be doable within 1-2 days.

  • Nononono youre talking like it's a company that actively develops and manages its product. We're talking one intern with minor coding skills, and unknown sitting in front of a mirror smeagol-style and arguing with himself which path to mordor is the best.

There is simply NO TIME (frame) to determine which of your well thought out, easy to implement changes they can disregard first. That would require any sort of coordinated effort man!

As per usual, feel free to prove me wrong by doing *literally anything useful*.

  • Hm. Maybe try to read more between the lines. I do make very clear political messages displaying hope and opportunity. Sorry if you can't discern them. :)

I can assure you my mental is in a great spot, and unlike many others, I am not heavily invested into this game (emotionally and financially speaking). I love (limited parts of) the community, and the whole baseline idea of a real time strategic map-based game. It has incredible potential, and my rather negative callouts correlate directly with what the company delivers. I am dead serious when i type prove me wrong, but in the recent period (3? Maybe 4 years?), the only real (by that i mean, with an actual impact on playing experience) development work was the change to menhirs.

So please, go find someone else to sass at. :P

I seeing you hitting on the hopes & dreams of new enthusiasts, maybe you should be more select about where you comment. we need a new generation of teams to help bring the good old days back into play ;)

  • Just to let you know we are studying the options, but, so far what we want to achieve is to fix the real issue and not implement just a work around, that might take a while and lots of development time, time that we feel can be better spent in finding and implementing things that will bring bigger benefits to the game.
