Just one travian

  • I am just thinking.. if travian games own kingdoms and legends.. why have two separated games?

You can see the people more and more leaving the game, just bored with the very bored to death Travian legends start, and haters of the kingdom system and the abuses included. So we have two broken games who can be joined in just one. They just need to listen the people, right?

actually many players of T kingdoms play legends as well, but in certain moment they need to choose one of then to keep more attention ( as well players who have account in more than one server). So we have end games with a few alliances and a lot of death farms, abandon the game, and if newer player, they can not back anymore.

I remember when in T3.5 they have just one game and the servers are more intense in all levels, with minor players fighting their way even if not competing for a WW.

I am not demmanding any change.. just leaving the idea to discuss...

  • My theory - legends wasn't supposed to exist after kingdoms was introduced. But legends was more popular (and is now more popular for sure). So they had a game they wanted to work and was supposed to be more modern, app friendly, etc., but didn't surpass the predecessor, and a more popular game they were supposed to ease out but would be killing a large portion of their user base to get rid of at this point.

No confirmation. Just my analysis of what's happened over the past 10 years or whatever.

  • So we have two broken games who can be joined in just one.

That's like saying "We have a car that's popular and an airplane, why dont they mix them and have a flying car" :)

Anways I agree with your idea that Travian Kingdoms is slowly dying and Travian Legends is staying the same, because people dont like change. The only reason people would leave legends is if the gameplay experience is better in kingdoms.

What we need for that to happen:
-Fix the multi and abuse problems and actually straight up delete accounts\

-Put more limits on gold so the difference in gold and non-gold is smaller

-Make the app more friendly and not miss some vital information

-Promote slower server, but with more interesting midgame goals so it doesn't feel like a drag

  • Kingdoms have a major issue with their app, so it is a great start to fix the kingdom problems .

The new civs introducted in legends have a good impact in maintain the people there ( and maybe, because this they have so many excuses to do not drag these two civs to kingdoms)

I dont care about gold limits, because it is a income base for the creators, so they could put more options with gold cost in kingdoms to maximise their profit here and start do some attention to their players.

I dont like slower server, but totally agree with more midgame goals.

  • A problem with "fixing the app" is that I think many players have given up on it at this point. Many prefer even just mobile browser, which is sad. Their development rate is too slow to fix it quick enough.

One creative way that legends gains income is "watch this ad and get 10% off building time."

The strange thing is that many of their ads are just for their own games. But there are other ways for income if the company agrees there is too large of a discrepancy.

About the app problem, at this time this is more a companion app than a game app. I am just using this to receive notifications. no way to play in it.

the way to get income from legends are cool, but annoying. sometimes I preffer to not use this just to get away to the video ads. they create it to compensate the mechanic of auto finish in less than 5min of the kingdoms, but it only worth in 1x or late game, when time goes up to more than 4 hours. and why not introduce some of this in kingdoms too?

  • Regarding the general thread theme, it is difficult, yes they had a joined start, one was the "child of the other", but, as iribuya well mentions, they are very different in feel and play style.

It allows you to choose one or the other, play them concurrently or just jump from one to the other when you feel a different play style.

Thank you very much for all the opinions and ideas, I see that iribuya gave 4 well defined items of things to improve Kingdoms, allow me to go over them since I see them very interesting and current:

-Fix the multi and abuse problems and actually straight up delete accounts\

Yes, we understand this needs to be worked on, and we are doing so on the background.

-Put more limits on gold so the difference in gold and non-gold is smaller

This is a difficult balance, we believe we have the right one, when I see and try other games I actually appreciate the balance in general TG achieves on its own games. I cannot mention here other games outside of TG, but there are some that MAN! If you don't pay you are not able to even raise your building levels for a long long long time! Believe me, in comparison we have done a great balancing act here.
We have to remember, as Sant7-br#EN mentions that TG needs to survive if we want to keep enjoying Kingdoms.

But, I am not saying there is no room for improvement, if there are specific ways you have in mind, please let me know! I am all ears.

-Make the app more friendly and not miss some vital information

Again, as Sant7-br#EN mentions, it is a companion app, so for that, with the current aims or goals for the App, it fulfils it role.

But I take on board that a more complete App is desired and will speak about it with the team.

-Promote slower server, but with more interesting midgame goals so it doesn't feel like a drag

And this is the most interesting point I think we can take something forward... do you have any specific goals in mind?

If anyone else has any in mind that we could study, please let us know!

About they are now so different, we could play servers with different versions, as they already do in legends.. join the players in one community, for example here, and in one plataform the players can choose with version they preffer, not two different websites.

about the app thing.. how about complete forgot the use of this to play in mobile and just focus in build a real companion app instead. It obviously not going well, at 2 star rating and many angry replies.. the app could just try to open a mobile browser ( who many people already preffer than play in the app) to do specific tasks like put units to train and start a building.

on the gold balancing.. many things affect this.. for example here from Brazil, the price to buy gold is expensive.. 300 pieces cost about near 8% of my salary. sometimes players of other countries could affort buy gold much easier and so others can feel injustice, but economy is this. Maybe if poor players can "Farm gold" ingame, they can have some chance, even if they play other servers to gather gold to play seriously in the next round, but it can easy unbalance the game, the gold cost of many things will go up and so on... not a easy call.

To finish, I want to be gratefull for listen me and let here your opnions. thanks anyone for discuss it with me

  • Ok, so you want to have all in one site... but I cannot see what the difference it would be regarding the game... from your end, it is just having 2 different sites, isn't it?

Would it make any difference doing what you are saying Sant7-br#EN , having both games in the same site?

Personally, for me, it doesn't make much difference to play one or the other, I just go to the right page and that is it.

Interesting concept, not using an App but a mobile browser instead.

I will mention it with the team, not sure what would the implications be of doing that. So far there has been a lot of work into the App, not sure it would make sense to drop it while it is improving all the time.

Of course we need to keep improving it, but that is constantly been done.

Regarding the gold balancing, there is little we can do in that front, I know life is different in different countries, but our International game worlds are done as balanced as possible taking into account the whole of the markets we serve.

  • And this is the most interesting point I think we can take something forward... do you have any specific goals in mind?

    I have mentioned this before.......

But one thing to make Kingdoms more cohesive and engaging.....would be to institute kingdom quests/goals.....much like personal quests....
Like; "Have X amount of troops in kingdom" and some kingdom-wide bonus for the reward.
"Reach Rank X in offense/defense" .....for some reward
    ...etc....

Having Kingdom quests/goals will keep more players engaged...and give newer players incentive when on slower servers....or during a slow time.

Yes, this would be very good for the kingdom. Especially for non-premade kingdoms to get some sense of teamwork.

-Natars attack the biggest treasury after all robber camps have been cleared and people can send def to gain even more treasures each.

Perhaps each 3 days on speed (1 week in regular) kindoms can get a random goal. (players can only get this bonus if they were in kingdom while the current goal was given, to prevent swapping)

-Celebrate (10x amount of players) parties to have each member gain 500 cp bonus

-Build (1000x amount of players) in troops to gain a 10% boost for 1 day

-Upgrade (100x amount of players) in fields to gain a 10% boost in production for 1 day

-Kill (5000x amount of players) in robber troops to receive a 10% crop bonus in turning in treasures

-Catch (100x amount of player) animals to get 5000 silver

    etc etc

  • You can keep this a bit balanced by scaling the difficulty with kingdom rank.

  • Yes, there is something what can be interesting in the midgame. And Travian allready know about it.

    Artifacts

They wouldn't have to be the same as in Legends or T4, but it would bring fighting and fun to the game at a time when virtually nothing is happening.

Yeah cool would it be if kingdoms could 'buy' artifcats with bonuses that affect the whole kingdom for VP. Sacrifice VP would be a hard choice.
